Davinson Sanchez was an unfair Spurs scapegoat - and his exit is a risky call
Sanchez leaves Spurs with a sense of what might have been, but the defining image of his time at the club will not be a fair one
The enduring image of Davinson Sanchez's six years at Tottenham Hotspur will not be any of the big performances he put in during his first year at the club, his impressive displays in the Champions League against the likes of Real Madrid or when his form kept Toby Alderweireld on the bench or even the run of clean sheets he managed when he would come in for the injured Cristian Romero.
The image that will instead persist of the big Colombian is the sad one of him sitting on the bench with his hands over his eyes back in April this year, having just been substituted against Bournemouth after most of a stadium full of 61,369 supporters, the majority his own fans, had booed his every touch.
It was a low point not only for Sanchez but also for the Tottenham fans.
