Spurs are building their next golden generation
The youthfulness of Ange Postecoglou's side has been going under the radar
Djurgarden's sporting director Bosse Andersson enjoyed himself as Daniel Levy's guest within the chairman's suite as Tottenham came from behind to beat Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
The 55-year-old Swede, a striker back in the day in his homeland and also for a season at Braga in Portugal, would have appreciated the four clinical goals on display from both sides at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Andersson took selfies with Levy and later Spurs captain and goalscorer Son Heung-min, but he was not there for a jolly. The Swede and Tottenham's Danish technical director Johan Lange have a strong relationship forged over the years and the duo were responsible for thrashing out the terms for the signing of Lucas Bergvall in January, along with Levy.
Part of the deal, which was explained in detail by Andersson at a members' meeting at Djurgarden last month, will see a more formal link-up going forward with Spurs which "could involve an exchange of players in both directions".
Andersson mentioned then that the two clubs would meet in the 'next few weeks' to formalise that partnership which could result in the exchange of academy players, with the potential of Spurs players heading to Djurgarden in the future. This trip to London appears to be part of those formalisation talks.
It is another element of the drive within Tottenham in recent years to improve their academy and the talents coming through it and into it, as well as snapping up players in that 18-21 age group range.
