From asking to leave to playing 400 games - Son's remarkable Spurs story still has chapters left to write
The landmarks continue for one of Spurs' greatest signings

Tuesday evening proved to be another landmark day in Son Heung-min's Tottenham career. Only three days after netting his 160th Spurs goal to move ahead of Cliff Jones and into the top five of club's all-time top scorers, Son made his 400th appearance for the Lilywhites in Tuesday's 1-1 draw with West Ham.
Although it proved to be a rather uneventful game as they could only manage a point in east London, it was a proud day for Tottenham's captain as he racked up the landmark figure. To make 400 appearances for a single club in the modern era of the game is a remarkable achievement and one he should be immensely proud of.
Rewind the clock back eight years and it very much appeared that the 31-year-old would struggle to even make 100 appearances for the north London club following his debut season in the capital. Joining from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2015, Son found himself in and out of Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham team and only managed to net eight goals in 40 games.
Struggling to adapt to life in England and having been so comfortable in Germany prior to his move, the attacker asked to leave Tottenham after only one season to return to the Bundesliga. Knowing just what he could contribute to the team in the years ahead due to his talent and immense qualities, Pochettino didn't want to lose his man and in the end convinced the club's No.7 to remain at White Hart Lane.
